Before Spring Vacation

7:06 PM |

Today is the last day of 2005 school year calendar. Tomorrow, Hikari will have a month of Spring vacation. Next month, in the Entrance Ceremony for 2006 school calendar, Hikari will become an Akagumi-san (student of three-year-old class). Until today, Hikari is still in Kiirogumi. Actually, he had become three years old in July last year when he first enrolled at school. But, Japan's school year begins every spring (March) so July last year, Hikari couldn't join the Akagumi since the class had started the spring before. Therefore he was put in the youngest class (since the others were more than 3 yo at that time while Hikari had just turned 3). At that time, Hikari was the only Kiirogumi student. He was taught by one teacher. Private class, indeed! Then, a month after that another boy entered the class so that the youngest class had 2 students finally :) Now, Hikari and Keita-kun, the graduates of Kiirogumi, will be in Akagumi.

There was a closing ceremony with a short speech by Encho-sensei (headmaster) and students' performance in front of the will-be-new students. Hikari and his friends performed the same dances and songs they did on the last Seikatsu Hapyou. New students and their parents came to see the school and its members. While the new students were watching the performances, the parents had a small-cozy meeting with the headmaster. The headmaster explained about the school's rules, cultures, values, etc. She then distributed the students' books, crayons, paints, board, clothes, bag, hat, other equipment to the parents. At home, we have to write or put our children's names on those books, crayons, paints, board, etc. The headmaster made it clear that everything that the student owns (or brings, or wears) should be named! Whew! It actually took a day to finish all! Now we understand why name-label in every size, color, and style is so popular in the country...

Hikari in his custom. He is a camera freak.
